Zeyan has been banished by her own race and her talents have developed under the careful eye of the instructors at the Citadel. When a psychic plague breaks out that shatters the mind body connection, the locals call the Sector Guard and they, in turn, call the Soul Keeper. It is time for her to return home.

Orenn has envied his cousin Fenn’s life and love in the Sector Guard. As a telepath at the Citadel he recognizes a powerful will when he sees it and when Zeyan looks into his eyes, he also sees his future stretching before him, with her at his side.

He had no idea it was going to be the other way around.

The over arching plot was good, but the writing felt rushed and wooden. I feel like I just read a report on a longer more interesting story instead of the story itself. There is both room and potential for improvement so I wish Viola Grace good luck.

Viola Grace – Tales of the Citadel - Sector Guard Spinoff

This author is prolific. Really, REALLY prolific - and that's a good thing because I enjoy her stuff. Note these are short story/short novella sized works that share a common universe - a universe where 2000 Terrans were allowed to go out to the stars and establish that the Terrans could live, love, and adapt to the wider world...

The series theme is the Citadels, places of learning where gifted individuals can be protected and trained to handle their powers – rather than being handled by them. Their motto seems to be ‘Be the Best You Can Be’. Most Citadels share a world with a Sector Guard base and the Citadel frequently subcontract their members to serve with the Sector Guard. Although you’d think they’d notice that they seldom get them back… Many of the stories contain Terrans, or those with some Terran in their ancestry, but not all.

I rate her stories pretty consistently as either 4s or 5s. Frequently there is sex - alien sex of course - and some very weird aliens they are but all seem to accomplish the 'insert tab A into slot B' thing to the delight of all concerned.

Below is the copy and paste from the author's web – I suggest reading the Sector Guard stories first but it is not absolutely necessary. Order is not hugely important although the characters do tend to reappear now and then.

This book was really good how ever the sentences didn't always get complete and other times New sentences were started half way through or a word assent right all in all I think the book needs to be re edited and fixed before anyone else buys the book
Who doen't love Viola???
Not many could survive losing everything. Now a new world, New people and dying. How do you survive? Food for thought.
A refreshing take on a very special talent in this heroine. Good fun reading with a few twists thrown in to tantalize.
A great start to a wonderful Science Fiction Romance Series made up short stories that explore all kinds of aliens, cultures, and love.

I have been reading out of order and it has been good times for me. However, I think that reading in order would likely be more pleasurable if you don't have a fierce memory.

The heroine is wonderful as is the hero and the world building. Enjoy!
I loved this story. I liked that Zeyan was vulnerable but strong at the same time. She wasn't some woman who pretended to be strong or something she wasn't and when she was weak she admitted to this weakness. I liked Orenn as well and thought he would be the best one to anchor Zeyan and also become her mate. Having to return to her home world after being banished would have been so hard but with Orenn by her side, Zeyan handled it well. She was definitely a Soul Keeper.
The over arching plot was good, but the writing felt rushed and wooden. I feel like I just read a report on a longer more interesting story instead of the story itself. There is both room and potential for improvement so I wish Viola Grace good luck.
